website

The Coproduction of Healthy, Secure and Playful Spaces – A Collaborative Approach is a project spearheaded by Malta’s Guardian of Future Generations, chaired by Dr Rachael Scicluna and in collaboration with the The Ministry For The Environment, Energy And Regeneration Of The Grand Harbour and the Gabriel Caruana Foundation.

The project aims to co-create and co-produce meaningful, healthy, playful and secure urban spaces for the benefit of all local residents, thereby enhancing the quality of life in the localities of Zurrieq, Safi, and Kirkop. The Foundation is supporting a series of workshops from students to elderly communities and will employ different methods to create a meaningful picture of what the community needs and the challenges being faced.

The project is focused on researching how diverse communities perceive their surrounding urban and natural environment to involve them in co-designing sustainable neighbourhoods that enhance quality of life and reduce health inequalities.

It promotes the social value of infrastructure, health equity, and fosters community building and integrating nature through an innovative approach for evaluating and shaping healthier, playful, and more connected places.

The project fosters an open dialogue with the Zurrieq, Safi and Kirkop Local Councils, and several relevant stakeholders. The Gabriel Caruana Foundation together with Raffaella Zammit, Elyse Tonna and Martina Camilleri will engage in
