Research project:

Walking uncharted territory – A collective exploration of public space in Birkirkara

Raffaella Zammit is a Masters student at the University of Malta. She is currently reading for a Master of Arts in Social Practice Arts and Critical Education, at the University of Malta, supervised by Professor Raphael Vella. For her dissertation she is conducting a study titled Walking uncharted territory – A collective exploration of public space in Birkirkara.

What will you be doing?
The aim of this social practice art research is to explore mobility and public space through the eyes of parents/guardians and children using artistic methods. Together with Raffaella, you and your child/children will walk, explore, discuss and create. No artistic experience is required to participate.

Should you wish to participate in this study you will meet at The Mill, Art, Culture and Crafts Centre, Birkirkara between May and September 2023. Together with Raffaella, you and your child/children will go on four short walks around The Mill in Birkirkara, with each walk followed by a creative workshop. An additional two sessions will be held to develop an artwork together based on the experiences shared.
Your participation will contribute to an understanding of how parents and children feel about mobility issues in public space. For this study there is space for around five adults and five children. Participation is free of charge. To register your interest in participation kindly use this link: https://forms.gle/pPf2Uiyv554NgZfM9
