Reminiscence, or the recollection of a memory told through the eyes of today, is the primary focus of this collection of works. Memories take on different shapes and meanings along the course of one’s life, shifting our understanding of the self and that self within one’s context.

Harsh realities brought about by grief have led to a reconsideration of memories. Exposed from an early age to various home relocations, and familial changes have required a mouldable temperament for the artist's self-preservation. Relying on photographic memories the artist studies each stage of these significant events.

By using painting, negative spacing and stitching as means of reconstructing a memory, Michela delves deeper in understanding her journey thus far. Revaluating these memories from a place of growth, self-awareness and stability, gives a different perspective to these previously misunderstood imposed decisions. As memories are moulded by the ever changing present, the works will never be finished, simply paused till the next chapter of relearning.
